## With a referral from your doctor, your treatments are covered by the Italian National Health Service (SSN)

Every Italian resident is entitled to one course of thermal treatments a year under the Italian National Health Service (SSN). All you need is a doctor's referral (impegnativa). You pay only the health charge (ticket) of € 55.00; those entitled to an exemption pay nothing.

Terme di Roma uses the sulphurous water of the Acque Albule springs, among the richest in Europe, under the supervision of our in-house medical director.

## How to start your treatments, in three steps

### What to do

- See your GP and ask for a referral (impegnativa) for a course of thermal treatments, stating your condition.

- Call us on (+39) 0774 4088 to book your admission check-up. We carry it out here, on the day you arrive.

- Begin your course of treatments: 12 days in total. If you are travelling from further afield, the hotel offers special rates for treatment guests.

Bring with you: your doctor's referral, your health card and any exemption certificate.

The admission check-up is part of your course of treatments. It takes place here at the hotel — no other appointments needed.

## What we treat with sulphurous water

The water of the Acque Albule springs is recommended for four main areas.

### Respiratory conditions
Inhalations, aerosol therapy and treatments for sinusitis, chronic bronchitis, rhinitis and rhinogenic hearing loss.

### Rheumatology
Therapeutic mud baths and thermal baths for osteoarthritis, rheumatic conditions and joint recovery.

### Dermatology
Balneotherapy for psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis: sulphur is a natural ally for the skin.

### Rehabilitation
Motor and vascular rehabilitation programmes in thermal water, guided by our medical staff.

Frequently asked questions

## Answers to the questions everyone asks

How much does a course of treatments cost?With a doctor's referral (impegnativa) you pay only the regional health charge, which is € 55.00 at the Terme di Roma. Those entitled to an exemption (for age, income or medical condition) present the referral with the code issued by their local health authority and pay nothing. Services outside the accredited cycle are charged separately.

Are the cures also covered by INAIL?Yes: the Terme di Roma hold an agreement with INAIL and welcome policyholders authorised to undertake cycles of thermal and rehabilitation treatment, who may stay at the hotel for the whole duration of the cycle. See the page on the INAIL agreement. For the mud-bath therapy cycle under the agreement, book at least two weeks before treatment begins by contacting the Mud Department on 0774 408517.

How long does a course of treatments last?The standard SSN course consists of 12 days of treatments. On your doctor's advice, the stay can also be split into two periods.

Do I need to book before I travel?Yes, it is best to. One phone call to (+39) 0774 4088 books your admission check-up and, if you need one, your room at the hotel. Everything is ready when you arrive.

Can I have the treatments without staying at the hotel?Of course. Many guests come in each day from Rome and the surrounding area. Staying at the hotel is a convenience for those travelling from further away — not a requirement.

Can the person with me use the pools and spa?Yes. While you follow your treatments, whoever is with you can enjoy the thermal pools and the wellness centre with our dedicated packages.
